As many small businesses have collapsed since the mandatory closures in Ontario, big businesses seem to suffer from the government’s response to the pandemic too.
The Disney store at Mississauga’s Square One shopping mall will close down on March 23, pivoting to eCommerce shopping platform, shopDisney, in response to reduced foot traffic since the lockdowns.
shopDisney “will be coupled with an assortment of new and elevated merchandise from the company’s full range of brands, including adult apparel collections and artist collaborations, trend-forward streetwear, premium home products and collectibles,” Disney stated in a press release.
The purveyor of licenced Disney merchandise has been a shopping landmark for almost 28 years, whose closure is joined by the Disney store at the CrossIron Mills mall in Calgary, Alberta. Surviving Disney stories in Ontario include the ones in Toronto, Vaughan, Newmarket, Scarborough, London, Hamilton and Ottawa.
