A Canadian company is creating the world’s first ever all-hemp plane that will feature hemp composites in all of its parts and run on cannabis oil.
Hempearth, a weed company that sells other weed-infused products such as food and accessories, created the ultra-lightweight plane.
According to its official website, Hempearth’s plane is built “almost entirely from hemp,” with “everything from the seats, the wings, the plane walls and even the pillows” containing hemp composites.
“These hemp aviation composites are unlike anything,” the website reads, stating that it “shall revolutionize the way many things are constructed including aircrafts, boats [and] cars.”
The company stated that it built the plane using hemp because it is “10 times stronger than steel,” which it believes “can withstand a lot more weight” and can bend further than metal. “Great for aviation.”
“Traditional aerospace materials are heavier than hemp and toxic and not sustainable,” the website reads. It added that hemp has “almost no environmental impacts,” which makes the plane more sustainable.
