Texas Governor Abbott plans to lift the state’s mask mandate and open all businesses to run with 100% capacity from March 10. The decision was made against health officials’ recommendations who have urged to keep COVID-19 restrictions in place to curb the spread. Abbott announced the decision to help struggling businesses, adding that “everybody who wants to work should have that opportunity.” The state is averaging around 7,600 new cases per day, with just 9% of its adult population fully vaccinated.
