FBI Director, Christopher Wray, is wondering if his intelligence analysts missed warning signs before the US Capitol riots.
Wray said he boosted the FBI’s focus on domestic violent extremism, since they have been on the rise.
Wray appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee to discuss why the FBI hadn’t been able to detect the incoming storm on the Capitol. According to him, the FBI was tracking large amounts of information about potential violence, but did not explain what was done with that information.
The FBI apparently visited some extremists and attempted to dissuade them from going to Washington.
A former Capitol Police chief testified that he received an email after business hours of potential violent plots against the Capitol, but claims he never saw it.
