An Ontario quarantine screening officer was charged on Wednesday with extortion and sexual assault. The accused allegedly demanded cash from a woman for not complying with quarantine orders, and when she refused, he proceeded to sexually assault her in her home.
The individual, who is being identified only as Hemant by police, was trained by Canada’s Public Health Agency as a designated screening officer under the Quarantine Act. According to police, it happened on February 18 in Oakville when the accused was conducting a quarantine compliance check.
