A man from Ottawa is facing a string of charges related to the sexual assault of children that took place from the 1980s to 2000, City News Ottawa reported, citing Police Services.
Gerard Bruyere, 61, is alleged to have been involved in multiple incidents, which came to light after the Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault and Child Abuse (SACA) Section launched an investigation in 2017 for an incident that happened between 1984 and 1990 and involved a young teenage girl.
Bruyere is currently facing nine counts of sexual assault, five counts of sexual interference, four counts of gross indecency, two counts of indecent exposure, an invitation to sexual touching and exposure to a person under 14.
The investigators, in this case, are concerned that more victims may be involved.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit at 613-236-1222, extension 5944.
Bruyere is currently awaiting a court date and is being held in police custody.
