Social female giraffes live longer than those who spend time alone

Social female giraffes who spend time with other giraffes are said to live longer than those who spend more time alone, according to researchers from the University of Zurich.

Female giraffes who spend more time with other giraffes live longer than those who are less sociable. Researchers from the University of Zurich observed 512 female giraffes in northern Tanzania and found that sociability was one of the largest contributors to female giraffes’ survival. This is not true for male giraffes.
